  • Writing in reality.

Nothing to smell here, nothing to hear here. You can try lick your monitor but you won't get far on taste and the feeling sensation is only going to be from your heated computer and cold monitor screen, but if that's going to do it for you then go for it.

There is something to see though.
    L e t t e r s   f o r m i n g  w o r d s ,
    wordsformingsentences,
sentences – paragraphs and the paragraphs this blogs.

Each letter on its own even has substance, with X turning the mind to extreme content, R for those times you spend alone unsure what others would think of you if they knew you were interested in something tabboo and so on, I being the self and that's a personal thing to how I makes you respond.

Each word has its own power. Rape, fuck, cunt and slut making you think just a little less of the author. Cute, love, fun and joy making you think the author is being superficial. Wisdom, truth, perception and ignorance making me seem like I'm opinionated and have a message.

Even without a context we gain those perceptions. When this is all filed into sentences though is the first time we should be judging. It's not the use of verbosity that makes the content, but the content. Take this as an instance; “my furry friend found her resting place among the warmth of the blankets”, no you twat! “the cat got on the bed”. The drawn out sentence on it's own then need to be put into context as well though I'll admit.

The real judgment needs to begin when structure starts to unfolds. The cat sentence among a basic uninteresting story is ridiculous, but perhaps in the set up for a drawn out day spent gazing out the window and (insert cliché here) watching the world go by, it makes sense.

You end up with a final work, presented with fonts and things of insignificance, but they can be things that aid the contents appeal, like in the real world, the legibility of handwriting.

Blogs though have the luxury of being able to skip around and convey different things unlike any other format. A novel is restricted to the previous disclosed actions of a character, setting them up for new events. Have you ever read the line “he woke up and was over the events of the previous weeks”. Characters don't have the luxury of being human though, because if it wasn't real we wouldn't buy into it. Not to mention novels treat gaps so differently. As do most formats of writing.

The blog isn't something I recall studying until I was out in the world and finding content for myself. But it is a mark in our history, and hopefully this awakening to many people of others realities will influence the Hollywood system of story telling to bring it to a the world I live in, not the world of beyond possibles.

If you blog, then blog more, if your friends have blogs prompt them to write, if people don't have blogs then engage them. They're fucking rad!... I mean, ummm,, they provoke the mind and awaken us to the collective consciousness that is all around us during those self indulgent feelings of isolation.

you'd make a great psycholinguist. i don't know of anyone who's treated blogs with study, but you should check out steven pinker. "the language instinct" is a great read.

I totally agree with you on the fact that people often over complicate a simple feeling with words. If people would just get straight to the damn point the world would be a better place. However, it is an art form to sprinkle synonyms and mold a sentence from a block to a abstract structure that conveys ideas.

But, again, I completely agree with you. [pat]
